Experts in Finland have studied men who enjoy strutting their stuff on the dancefloor and have found that it has a number of positive effects on males.

Dr. Kai Lehikonen, from the University of Arts Helsinki, said: "Many of the interviewees said dancing is a way to express oneself physically without competition.

"Body awareness is part of humanity, and we increase our knowledge of the world through our senses. If people ignore the bodily dimension of themselves, it reflects negatively on their wellbeing."

The study also claimed that dancing increases a person's respect for others and gives them a sense of community.

However, dance teacher Isto Turpeinen doesn't think men will be rushing to lessons just yet.

He said: "Most dance groups are made up exclusively of girls, so teachers design classes for girls' bodies. Boys feel that the teaching is not suited for them."
