The coronavirus pandemic has changed the world as we knew it. Face masks are becoming an essential part of everybody's wardrobe - whether they like it or not - as communities pull together to protect one another from the deadly virus. With such seriousness surrounding them however, why can't we have a little fun?

Designers and everyday members of the public have been making their own fashion statements with bold and outlandish face masks, and we couldn't resist prowling the web for some of the best.

Here are our five favourite weird and wonderful face masks from across the globe.

This is without a doubt one of our favourites. Coupling our cute and (not-so) cuddly feline friends with protection from covid-19? What's not to love?!

Even our friends at LEGO have been getting us giggling, with their face mask wrapped around the LEGO giraffe at the Berlin LEGOLAND entrance. Does the strain on that LEGO leave anyone else feeling a bit nervous that the poor thing's ear could fly off?

Lettuce take a look at another

Another resident of Mexico City got in the spirit of things when she donned some rubber gloves... and a face mask made entirely of lettuce! Not sure this one will do much to protect, but it's certainly fun to look at.

Will Nicola Sturgeon don this Scottish wear?

If the Scottish First Minister is looking for some face wear to get her shopping done, then she need look no further! Here's the perfect and patriotic mask for anyone in Scotland looking to up their protection.
