An adviser to King Charles says alien life could exist

Astronomer Royal Martin Rees thinks it is impossible to rule out the prospect of extraterrestrial life and even suggested that "most scientists would bet" that the little green men are present on "lots of other planets".

Rees has been advising both the King and his late mother Queen Elizabeth on space matters for almost three decades and explained that the question about aliens is the topic he has to deal with most.

The scientist said: "I get letters from people who think they've been visited by the aliens or taken away by them. I don't believe most of those claims.

"If the aliens had made a huge effort to come here would they have just met one or two well-known cranks, maybe made a corn circle and gone away again? It seems unlikely."
