An insider recently explained that the former First Lady "publicly supports" her husband as his legal woes continue to mount but enjoys a life with "100 per cent privacy and no press scrutiny" and this stance is unlikely to change following Trump's latest criminal indictment in Georgia.

A source told People magazine: "She hates all of the legal problems and says very little about them anytime anywhere. She leads her own life."

Melania has rarely been seen in public despite her husband's ongoing legal issues and is said to prefer spending time at Trump Tower in New York City as she finds the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida too hot during the summer.

A source said: "Melania has a small circle of family and very few trusted friends. Unlike others who belong to her husband's clubs, she doesn't rely on outside stimulants to guide her daily life.

"She has her son, other family members, and select friends."

Trump recently suggested that Melania is supportive of his bid for a return to the White House in 2024 despite her reluctance to appear in public with him.

The former US president said: "She said just the other day it is just so sad what is happening to our country.

"She said it so poignantly, and sad - but she expressed it.

"She looks at the news and you see the border. For the most part the fake news does not report it. Our country is being poisoned by people coming in that shouldn't be here.

"She looked at it - it was that, interest rates, our border."
