Villagers used an 18 inch hunting knife to cut Akbar Salubiro from the belly of the reptile and he was found still wearing his wellington boots, shorts and a t-shirt.

According to The Mirror newspaper, the 25-year-old went missing after leaving for work harvesting palm oil in a remote village on the island of west Sulawesi, Indonesia on Sunday evening (26.03.17).

Friends and family searched high and low for him but feared the worst when they found the bulging python sprawled out in his back garden on Monday (27.03.17) night.

It was reported that his wife, Munu, was away at the time and only found out when pictures and video emerged in the news.

Village secretary Salubiro Junaidi said: ''People had heard cries from the palm grove the night before Akbar was found in the snake's stomach.

''When the snake was captured, the boots Akbar was wearing were clearly visible in the stomach of the snake.

''Resident cut open the belly of the snake and Akbar was lifeless.''

Pythons are known to suffocate their victims before swallowing them whole.
