A mule has won a dressage competition in the UK after being allowed to take part for the first time ever.
Wallace the Great is half horse, half donkey, but owner Christie McLean has been campaigning for equality and a spot competing as a member of British Dressage, being a different species to a horse or pony and having different chromosones.
As a testamant to ''inclusion and diversity in dressage'' and a way of ''making the sport more accessible to all'', the organisation recently agreed to allow mules to compete.
Wallace the Great went on to beat eight full-horse competitors in his debut at a British Dressage Quest Club competition, and Chrisie was delighted.
As reported by the Metro, she said: ''Wallace won first in the intro class, out of nine. We'll be having a glass of bubbly this evening to celebrate the UK's first mule in dressage. ''He was competing against cobs, ponies and horses. There was a bit of everything and he blew them all out of the water.
''It is giving him a second chance to be somebody - it is about perseverance. I wanted to do this and make him happy. I just want the best for him.''
