The Darth Vader and Stormtroopers costumes - made from rubber mats and old plastic - have been catching the attention of villagers on the outskirts of the capital, Manila.

The officials use the outfits to help them to maintain strict quarantine rules, as well to hand out relief packages.

Muriel Baldago, who wears a Stormtrooper costume, explained that their role is to ensure government guidelines are properly followed.

He adds that his outfit is often greeted with smiles and offers locals a light-hearted distraction from the pandemic.
