The Troy Police department in Michigan have recruited a kitten named Pawfficer Donut.

The department's overarching ambition is to raise awareness of pet adoptions and rescues after being officially sworn in by the officers.
Chief Gary Mayer said, according to Michigan Live: ''We are using social media to engage the public that we serve and to get the message out that police are human, too, and we want to show we have a side of us that is beyond law enforcement.''
It's hoped the kitten will also help the police department interact with members of the public and create a community feel surrounding the police in the area.
