A pensioner accidentally caused a massive traffic jam after driving his mobility scooter on a motorway.

The 88-year-old man was hoping to take the quickest route home but ended up on a busy road in Gran Canaria, Spain.
Footage shared online shows him crawling along the motorway with no lights on in a tunnel. A large queue had formed behind and horns can be heard beeping.
Spanish newspaper La Provincia reported that police were called to safely escort the man home and prevent an accident.
Mobility scooters and pedestrians are not allowed in the tunnel but the man said that he was unaware that he was committing a crime and police opted not to charge him.
Gran Canaria council tweeted a reminder that pedestrians are forbidden from passing through the tunnel.
