The kind hero made four bank transfers - each worth a penny - to spell out a message to the card's owner and ensure it made it back to the rightful owner.

The initial references read: ''Hi I found your. Wallet in the road. (sic)''

The third provided the stranger's phone number, with the final one asking for a text or call to arrange the return.

Tim Cameron revealed the story of his lost wallet on Twitter, as he wrote: ''I just lost my wallet on the way home from work.

''I didn't have much identifying info in there so a Good Samaritan got in touch with my via my... bank account.''
