A cup of Golden Tips - which is available from luxury Rubens Hotel near Buckingham Palace - costs four times as much as actual gold, and the company behind the special beverage described brewing it as ''an art form''.

Special leaves - grown in Sri Lanka and dried in velvet cloth - are carefully weight by waiters before getting steeped in hot mineral water, and the cuppa ends up with a rich golden hue.
