Slumdog Millionaire star, Freida Pinto has credited her film success to her mentor, Barry John.

The actress, who has a lead role in the multiple award-winning film, spoke out ahead of the Oscars next month and thanked John for bringing out the actor in her.

She said: "I'm grateful to Danny Boyle for giving me my debut film 'Slumdog Millionaire', which has won three Golden Globe awards and has been nominated for 10 Oscars this year, but before that I'm thankful to my teacher Barry John-sir who taught me how to bring out the actor in me and portray the character so convincingly," reports Masala.

John's Acting Studio has trained many famous faces in the past, including Shah Rukh Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Shiney Ahuja and Kunal Kapoor.

Freida also revealed that Hollywood megastars Kate Winslet and Angelina Jolie had guided the young star through her first Academy Awards experience.

Both actresses have reportedly offered her some advice and tips about red carpet events, and Pinto feels confident enough to go to them if she has any queries on the night.

She says:"Angelina was really wonderful to talk to and very supportive of newcomers... She’s just like, 'Embrace it. Enjoy it and keep it real. Don’t get affected by all this. Enjoy every moment."

"And every time I have a question, Kate Winslet is always there to answer it. I found this new-found support in her."
