Julia was a children’s publisher for 10 years before she turned to writing romantic novels. Her first novel Pastures New was hailed by Fiona Walker as ‘terrifically warm and funny’ Julia grew up in London, one of eight children, including a twin sister (who also writes) and her unconventional family includes a Jesuit priest, a biochemist and a lawyer.

She married Dave, a dentist, in 1989, and they have four daughters, aged between twelve and six years old.
