I’m a Pisces sun, Aquarius moon and Leo rising.

I had my birth chart done a few years ago and was totally amazed by how accurate it was, down to major events in my life.

The Girl the Sea Gave Back

Halloween is my favorite holiday.

Fall is my favorite season and Halloween/Samhain/All Hallows Eve is my absolute favorite holiday. When the stores start stocking Halloween stuff, I literally get teary-eyed.

I hate odd numbers.

I don’t know when this started, because I feel like it has always been true about me. I consistently avoid anything with odd numbers and won’t even set my thermostat to an odd number. In every book I’ve written, I never use odd numbers when I’m mentioning a number or a year.

I’m scared of spiders.

When I say scared, I mean irrationally terrified of even small spiders. I’ve been known to call my husband home from work to deal with a spider and even my kids tease me about it.

I’m a twin.

I have a twin brother named Adam who is a huge Viking man and makes me look tiny when I stand beside him.

I love plants.

I have fifty-seven house plants and they are like my other children. They are tucked into nearly every corner of my house.

I’m an enneagram 4 wing 3.

Enneagram 4’s are the Romantics and 3’s are the Achievers. Those two things sum me up incredibly well.

I don’t like love triangles.

This is true for me in all of storytelling. In books, movies, TV shows—anything. The love triangle trope just isn’t for me and I will probably never write one.

I collect old books.

I’ve been collecting antique books for about ten years and I’ve grown a collection that I really love. A few of my favorites are my copies of Little Women, Peter Pan and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

I am 50% Indian food.

I could eat Indian food for breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day. I love it so much that when I got married I insisted on starting the tradition of having Indian food every year for Christmas Eve. Over the years, we’ve had a few Indian friends that have begun to teach us how to cook it, though we’re still novices.
