Adam

Adam

Adam is the third book in, The Valentines, series. I think it’s easier to give a blurb of the story.

To figure out the present, they need to go back to the past.

Poppy is the only remaining necromancer in the world. She is the one in control of the dead and she has been sent to the Valentines. There is an evil force at work and she must help Adam Valentine to uncover it before it’s too late.

Adam is intrigued by the young necromancer. Her scars do not affect him. He sees the strength inside her and he likes it. All he wants to do is protect her and claim her as his own.

They are on a mission to find out who the real alpha of the Beyer West pack is. But Poppy’s world is about to turn on itself as she needs to make a choice. There is no room for love in the life of a necromancer, yet after centuries of being alone, Adam has filled her life with meaning.

People will die and secrets will be revealed as the balance that protects them is broken. Can their love survive as the world is about to be sent into chaos? This is no longer about the wolves but something much bigger that neither of them can fight.

You have always loved fiction since you were young, so who were your favourite reads?

I went through many phases growing up. I started out liking horror books and then I went into historical sagas until I’ve finally found a love of romance and erotic romance.

Picking favourite stories has always been a problem for me. I don’t have a favourite author or book.

You liked to read more than engage with people, so do you think at that point you knew that you would end up being an author?

I dreamt about becoming an author but I never thought it was possible. Becoming an author was something I never thought would happen to me and seemed so far away from my love of books.

Actually becoming an author has been a dream come true and one I’ll never take it for granted.

At sixteen you found Mills and Boon, so what was the appeal of these for you?

In a way they were my first steamy read. The attraction of Mills and Boon is the fact they always have intense conflict and a happy ending. In the real world there is not always a happy ending and I read books to escape life. I love to know that when I read something there will be something happy and these styles of books allow me to read without fear.

Why is it so important for you and the reader to find their happy ending?

I think life can be difficult enough without reading something as difficult. The happy ending is something I’ve always welcomed and always will.

One night after college, you looked for a new author to read, so what happened after your search?

I found black lace books and then my search developed into finding Lora Leigh. From that moment I found a genre of books I loved. Writing romance with steamy, erotic elements is something I enjoy and love to read. That search all those years ago made me see a whole new market and also find the passion inside myself to continue writing. Over the years I wrote and developed my craft until I got that final acceptance back in 2011.

To what extent do you think that writers are destined from a young age to become authors, or can it develop later in life?

I think it depends on the person. From a young age I wanted to be a writer but that dream was put away as I worked on my education and became involved in life. It was some years later when I turned my notes into actual stories.

I’ve also heard of some authors who didn’t start reading until later in life and then realising they loved writing themselves. I think everything depends on the person and the determination along with the love of writing as to how they approach their future as an author. When I wake up in a morning and realise my day will consist of writing, it is still surreal as I remember times waking up and having to wait to write. Being a full-time author takes dedication and time.

Who do you most like to read in the genre?

I have multiple authors I love so here is a short list; Jenika Snow, Stacey Espino, Delilah Hunt, Tymber Dalton, Heather Rainier, Sophie Oak, Chloe Lang, are to name but a few of the authors. My kindle is filled with multiple authors and I’m always looking for new ones.

This is book three in the series so what can you tell us about your previous works?

The Valentines series is based on a vampire family set in the fictional town of Beyer West. Each story unfolds a piece of the puzzle as to why the balance between worlds has been thrown out of balance and how it affects the strongest vampire family around.

What is next for you?

I’m concentrating on completing the next three books in the series as well as working on some contemporary erotic romance books.
