When I was a student in order to help pay the bills and provide money for beer in the union I worked most weekends as a singing telegram. I dressed in a 'gladiator' costume which was not a million miles away from what Russell Crowe wore in the movie of the same name.

Squeezed

I once fell over Andrea Corr in a dark Irish pub. (She was bending down getting something from her handbag). She is tiny. I hurt my knee, she didn't care.

As a child I used to hide behind the sofa whenever Rolf Harris appeared on the TV. Now I Know why.

I had 4 different primary schools (I wasn't expelled my dad was a professional cricketer and although this looks cool on my birth certificate it meant we were always moving) and every time we moved it was just before I was due to play the lead in the school play or nativity. I was destined never to be an actor.

I once picked up a brand new company car from a Mazda dealership, parked it outside a shop and went in to buy a sandwich. When I came out it had been stolen. I'd owned it for all of 3 minutes. It was found burnt out in a remote farm 2 weeks later. 3 weeks after that I received 14 speeding tickets (speeding cameras). I spent the rest of the year trying to convince the police, the local authority & my employer of my innocence.

My dad was a professional cricketer - this looks cool on my birth certificate.

I have 6 spreadsheets full of ideas for books. It is a little depressing because unless I can write 5 books per annum I'll be dead long before I can write them all.

My last book - Love Byte - was shortlisted for the Rom Com of the year.

When I was submitting my manuscript - Love Byte - to agents one of them sent me an email that simply said 'Oh Dear.' Thankfully I didn't give up!

On the other side of the coin getting a review from a reader who enjoyed what you've written is the best form of encouragement you can get.
