The Scene.

The room is lit by an unshaded light. The stench of sweat pervades the night.

The walls are painted a snakish green. Avarice on all but one, can be seen.

All eyes are fixed but heavily glazed as the stake of honor, lays on the baize.

The game has been playing for some considerable time.

Everything now, is on the line.

The cards were dealt and the four players all had five. Two could be seen with the others laying face down; playing blind.

SPEECH held a Jack and a Queen, he hoped for a straight. But he was a shy one was SPEECH, so he bet with restraint.

RISK held two clubs, the three and four. To him a flush or a straight. He said to himself “This must be fate!” With that in mind he raised the bet with no thought of a risk; to be met.

CHANCE held nothing but a ten and a one, but the last time he was dealt those cards three nines had turned over; and he had won. He upped the anti considerably, hoping his luck would hold and in any case, he figured, the others might fold.

CHEAT held three aces and knew if the other had been dealt. He had marked the cards you see and aces could be felt. With three aces his confidence did soar. He matched CHANCE’S raise and rose the pot; more.

The game played on in such a fashion with CHEAT’S face showing no sign of any transgression. He basked in the knowledge that honour would be his prize and the praise lavished would come as no surprise. CHEAT had been winning for far too long, for him to be worried over a different outcome.

CHEAT however, lost the game as SPEECH’S straight turned up, and it was he who walked away holding honour’s cup.

CHEATS never prosper, they are like bullies, they’re much the same. They seek to gain an advantage over those who play a fair game.

Both will rule if not overcome.

What you MUST do is SPEAK UP; and believe in YOU.
