A Vampire for Christmas

A Vampire for Christmas

You need to read A Vampire for Christmas! It's a light, sexy — sometimes funny story, about Kyle, a young man determined to find out who and what his sexy, supernatural neighbour is. Dieter, is a preternatural looking to escape his overbearing family. Along the way they discover more than attraction.

Please tell us a bit about your early love of romance.

It started with the library. When I was little, I used to ask my mom to drop me off at the library and I would spend hours there, and most of that time was spent reading romances. Contemporary. Fantasy. Sci-Fi. Harlequin. Loveswept. Kimani. I read everything I could get my hands on.

You are still an avid reader so who are your favourites?

Oh, man. I can't really name them all, but just really quickly and off the top of my head: Amanda Quick, Jayne Ann Krentz, Lena Matthews, Taige Crenshew, Mary Calmes, and many, many more.

To what extent have Buffy and Angel affected your writing?

Honestly, it taught me the value of strong, unique characters and deep world building. I often found myself more in love with the side characters and the world, than the main character. I'm a die-hard Xander fan to this day.

Why do you like your stories to have a bit more grit?

Life is gritty. It's hard, it's dark, but I'm a generally very positive person so as many issues as I give my characters, I love to have them overcome those obstacles. Hardship builds character and strength and I love finding out the depths of my characters. I bounce in my seat writing those scenes.

Why is it important to you to blend all of your favourite genres?

It keeps me interested. I often joke that I have adult onset ADD. I also don't like to limit myself. My muse freaks out majorly when that happens.

To what extent do you think that you can only write if you read in the genre first?

I think reading and learning about the genre you want to write is incredibly important. You need to know the rules and parameters of a genre, even if you are going to break each and every rule.

What is next for you?

I'm currently working on the first book in a shifter paranormal series surrounding an all access bar where shifters don't normally hang out together. The bar is located in an all shifter county. So, the project’s got family drama, sex, murder, and a ton of shifters. I am very, very excited about the characters.
