Wicked Ambition

Wicked Ambition

Why do you think ‘bonkbusters’ are so popular?

Escapism, glamour, sex, exotic adventures- the perfect way to be transported from our ordinary lives

If you could have dinner with any author who would it be?

Jackie Collins, without a doubt. She’s the queen of the ‘Bonkbuster’. There’s so much I’d want to ask her about!

What are your favourite things about living in London and LA?

London is the best city in the world- the people, the energy, the buzz. But it’s missing the one thing LA has- sun!

Tell us about your time in boarding school!

I couldn’t possibly- far too naughty!

Why does the world need ‘bonkbusters’?

‘Bonkbusters’ are the diamonds of life. The pair of shoes you don’t need. The cocktail you shouldn’t have. But you WANT!

Who do you most admire in Hollywood?

Strong, versatile, funny women. Meryl Streep, Tina Fey, Drew Barrymore. Also marriages that stay together- The Beckhams!

How important is it to connect with your readers like this?

Very. Aside from signings and events it’s the main point of contact with people reading our books. We love to hear from them!

What would you have done if you were not a writer?

I used to want to be a vet but was beyond crap at science, so that didn’t work out. A trapeze artist or an astronaut!

Best fan mail you have ever got?

It was from a 65 year old woman ‘50 shades is a bland jam sponge compared with the delicious ingredients in your fruit cake!’

Do you have any advice for budding ‘bonkbuster’ writers?

Don’t be shy about writing sex scenes. NEVER think of your Dad reading them. Let your imagination run wild!

In a movie adaptation, who would play your characters from Wicked Ambition?

All the men I fancy- Leo Dicaprio, James Franco, Johnny Depp (Cry Baby- not now!) that’s be a good start!

Do you choose the location for your books inspired by places you’ve been or choose them and then go to research?

A bit of both, LA, NYC and Vegas I already know… well it’s a good excuse to go on holiday!

Do you have a favourite character that you have written about?

Jax Jackson, the Olympian in Wicked Ambition. He was the 1st character I ever wrote about. He’s an idiot, but I love him!

What’s your tip top for people hoping to write their own bonkbuster novel?

Write one. It’s amazing how few people who actually want to do it. Get to the end, that’s where it starts!

What advice do you have for aspiring writers?

Read everything you can in the genre. See how authors construct plot, shape stories and create characters.

Congrats on the luscious Wicked Ambition! What next?

Thanks! Next is Glittering Fortunes, my first foray into Mills and Boon, coming in September. A sexy romance set in the UK!
