Josh Groban paid his respects to the U.S. military on Sunday by visiting wounded soldiers to mark America's Independence Day holiday.

The star was among the artists due to take the stage at the historic U.S. Capitol venue in Washington, D.C. on Monday to help his fellow citizens ring in the Fourth of July.

Groban spent his holiday weekend thanking injured members of the army for their continued efforts and he hoped to make them proud when he performed at the A Capitol Fourth event.

In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page on Sunday, he writes: "Returning back from meeting some extraordinary recovering soldiers. I thank them for their service and for letting me into their world.

"Singing War At Home tomorrow night will be an honor for me and my tribute to all of those at home and abroad coping with the price of war."

Actor-turned-bluegrass musician Steve Martin, R&B singer Jordin Sparks and Glee star Matthew Morrison were also on the bill for the holiday celebration.
