The 27-year-old Swedish actress - who is dating Michael Fassbender - currently lives in London and can't imagine ever making a move Stateside because she doesn't feel comfortable there.
Asked if she could live in Los Angeles, she said: "I don't think so. I don't feel very close to American culture.
"I'm much more European in my sensibility.
"I feel comfortable living in London now."
However, the 'Danish Girl' star admits her stint in the UK didn't get off to a great start.
She said: "I don't have very good memories of when I moved here. I was sharing this terrible - and very expensive - little flat, and when I first opened the door there were at least half a dozen rats running around in there.
"It was so bad that we moved the kitchen table into the hallway and that's where we would always eat lunch and dinner."
Though she is happily settled in London, Alicia does feel homesick sometimes.
She told LOOK magazine: "I will always feel Swedish and Scandinavian, that will never change.
"I have this love of nature and the outdoors that is very much part of my culture.
"I often feel homesick for it and things like the little red houses you find on small Swedish islands.
"Our beaches are very different from those in other countries too and I would love to go back there more often."
