Armie Hammer claims Johnny Depp "has no ego".

The 26-year-old actor - who plays John Reid in 'The Lone Ranger' alongside the A-list star - says Johnny helped develop the relationship between their characters, and was never out to "steal" scenes.

Armie said: "Johnny seemingly has no ego. He doesn't think he's Johnny Depp. He's never thinking, 'How am I going to steal this scene?' It's always, 'Let's make this funnier, bigger, more!' "

The film is a remake of the classic 1950s TV show of the same name and while Native American spirit warrior Tonto - who Johnny plays in the remake - was relegated to being the Lone Ranger's sidekick in the original, Armie believes the duo have equal billing on the big screen.

Speaking to Empire magazine, he explained: "In this version Tonto and the Lone Ranger actually have a relationship. It's a two-way street this time. They're jammed together by extenuating circumstances and it's made very clear to them: neither of you has anybody else in the entire world but the other.

"They have to learn to be partners instead of dragging each other in opposite directions."
