Ashley Tisdale's was overjoyed when Christopher French popped the question on the top of the Empire State Building in New York last Thursday night (08.08.13), is besotted with the musician because he has a "dark" side and good manners.
A source close to the actress told Us Weekly magazine: "She is in love with the 'darker, bad boy' types, and him being just that is why she has always been attracted to him.
"He is still a gentleman, though. [He] holds out her chair for her, holds the door, etc. but is still edgy, which is why they mesh."
The couple met in December 2012 shortly after Ashley split from her on/off boyfriend Scott Speer.
An insider said at the time: "She like those rocker types. They have mutual friends and just met through hanging out."
While friends previously said Ashley wasn't surprised by the proposal, she was thrilled by Christopher's choice of location.
A source recently said: "He had been planning on it for awhile. I think she knew it was coming but she is so happy."
