The 'Chelsea Does...' host grew up with "inadequate parents" who were always in debt and didn't want to have her adulthood spent in the same way as her New Jersey childhood.

She recalled: "I grew up with my two inadequate parents constantly dodging phone calls from debt collectors. I didn't want, as an adult, to ever have my telephone shut off.

"I wanted the nice life. Materialistic as it may sound, I wanted a house where I could have beautiful parties and beautiful catering and cleaning ladies and a driver. And I wanted to make my mark."

The outspoken star always tries to be "real" because she hates Hollywood "bulls**t".

She said: "I don't have any boundaries. I don't ever pretend that I'm not doing something that I'm doing.

"The way people present themselves in this day and age is so false and fake and bulls**t. I don't ever want to be like that - I want to be as real as I can be."

Chelsea, 41, is currently single having previously dated the likes of 50 Cent, NBC chairman Ted Harbert and hotelier Andre Balazs, and thinks that is largely because she is hard to please.

She said: "I think I'm a difficult person to please. I don't think [being single] has anything to do with anybody other than me."

However, the blonde comic is adamant she has no interest in having children.

She told Grazia magazine: "I am never having a baby. I never wanted to have a baby and I knew that from a young age.

"If someone left a baby on my doorstep, I wouldn't throw it in the garbage, but I'm not going to bring a child into this world - there are enough children in the world."
