The 66-year-old actor has signed up to play Mr. Big – who married Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in the 2008 spin-off film – in the upcoming HBO Max series ‘And Just Like That…’ but he admitted he was reluctant to do so as he felt he no longer had anything to offer as the character.

He told Yahoo Finance Live: "It was a little bit of a sort of creative negotiation because I didn't really feel I had anything to offer in that role again. It kind of felt like I had done it.”

Fortunately, producers were able to win Chris over when they told him their visions for the reboot.

He added: "But [executive producer] Michael Patrick King is just an incredible writer and has incredible creative ideas.

“Once we got together and talked about the potential of what we could do with the character, I was all in."

As well as Sarah Jessica, Chris will be reunited with show regulars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis – who play Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York Goldenblatt - in the reboot, though Kim Cattrall won’t be back as Samantha Jones.

And it was recently confirmed David Eigenberg, Willie Garson, Mario Cantone and Evan Handler will all be back as Steve Brady, Stanford Blatch, Anthony Marentino and Harry Goldenblatt, respectively.

In addition, Sara Ramirez was recently revealed to be playing a non-binary character with they/them pronouns.

The streaming platform confirmed Sara will play a character named Che Diaz, who is described as a non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian, who runs a podcast on which Carrie regularly features.

A description of Che from HBO Max reads: “Che is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humour and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular.”

'And Just Like That...' is the phrase Carrie would use at the start of each episode of the hit comedy drama show - which first aired in 1998 and ran for six seasons until 2004.
