Claire Danes

Claire Danes isn't concerned with looking "beautiful" on screen.

The 34-year-old actress portrays CIA agent Carrie Mathison in 'Homeland' and she insists she isn't bothered about appearing glamorous in her roles as she is focused on telling a good story.

Speaking to the new US issue of Glamour magazine: "I really have never been concerned about being beautiful on-screen. That's just not my jam. It's not relevant for Carrie. I don't need to worry about that, and I think that's really great."

"I love sitting in the make-up trailer and getting my make-up done in 15 minutes as opposed to an hour-and-a-half."

The Golden Globe winner - whose on screen persona Carrie suffers from bipolar disorder - believes audiences are often left feeling "uncomfortable" by her portrayal of the troubled character.

The blonde beauty said: "She gets emotional a lot but I actually think feelings are really hard for people. I think people are uncomfortable by uncensored expressions of emotion. But, you know, that's my job."

Luckily for Claire, her personal life is a world away from the drama of the Emmy Award-winning series. She has been married to fellow actor Hugh Dancy since 2009 and since giving birth to the couple's first child, Cyrus, last year, she has become a "happier" person.

Claire said: "I feel clearer about who I am and less apologetic about it, and more accepting of my limitations and also more aware of the ways in which I'm capable. I'm happier in my 30s.

"I was always looking forward to this time because people talk about it in very romantic terms and I think it's true. Gravity hasn't had too profound of an effect, and you're a little less emotionally gangly."
