Dakota Fanning has spoke out about the negativity she has faced about how she looks in photographs.

Fanning has seen her star rocket in recent years, and has become a target for paparazzi photographers.

However, the twenty year old has been criticised for how she looks and the way she dresses in those pictures.

But the actress has hit back, saying that you should be able to wear whatever you want to wear.

Speaking to The Times newspaper, the actress said: "I don't have any feelings about it. That holds no bearing on how I feel about myself at all.

"If someone says something positive or negative, it lives there and I live here and have my own feelings. It doesn't cross the barrier ...

"People should wear what they want and look how they want to look."

We last saw Fanning on the big screen in Night Moves, but she has a series of film projects in the pipeline.

She will return next month with new drama Effie Gray, in which she will take on the central role alongside Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, and Derek Jacobi.

She has also completed work on Franny, Yellowbird and a project with Gerardo Naranjo.
