David Arquette started drinking again after splitting from his girlfriend Christina McLarty.
The 'Scream 4' star, who has fallen off the wagon and was first spotted drinking at a bar earlier this month, is reportedly struggling to cope after ending his relationship with the 'Entertainment Tonight' reporter after two years together.
A source told gossip website RadarOnline.com: "They split on and off but he's been single for a while now."
The on/off couple were last seen together on June 8 and rekindled their romance in April after a brief split in March.
David's divorce from Courteney Cox, which was recently finalised, has also taken a toll on him emotionally.
The insider said: "A finalisation in his divorce, a heartbreak from his girlfriend -- it sounds almost typical for David to go back to his drinking. It's just a matter of how foolish he makes himself look this time. He's like a kid trapped in the body of a full-grown man -- and that kid's lost."
David, who spent four weeks at the Betty Ford Clinic in January 2011 where he was treated for alcoholism, was recently seen at Popkins Tavern in Richmond, Virginia, drinking Scotch and according to a fellow drinker he was "slurring his words".
He was also spotted a "little buzzed" at Bootsy Bellows nightclub in Los Angeles on Saturday night (22.06.13).
Arquette, who has a nine-year-old daughter Coco with his ex-wife, previously claimed he had his first beer when he was just four years old after snatching one from his dad.
