The 32-year-old actor admitted that he will be watching the ceremony at home after missing out on an invite, despite his roles in 'The Revenant', 'Ex Machina' and 'Brooklyn', which are all nominated.

Domhnall also stars as villain General Hux in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', which is set to overtake 'Avatar' as the highest-grossing film in history.

While promoting 'The Revenant' with co-star Will Poulter, the pair admitted that they had both been snubbed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which organises the awards ceremony.

When asked on US chat show 'Today', if they were going to the Golden Globes, Will, 22, said: "I don't think so... Potentially."

And Domhnall then quipped: "The deathly silence suggests that maybe we haven't been invited! Thank you for bringing it up! We're not gonna be at the Golden Globes. We're gonna watch at home!"

Meanwhile, Domhnall- who plays Andrew Henry, captain of the fur trappers in 'The Revenant' - previously admitted shooting the movie in -40 degree temperatures for eight months extremely tough but thinks director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's vision was worth it.

He said: "It was... what's the polite way of putting it? Tough as f**k.

"But that was the plan! He told us at the beginning.

"We were never going to be strolling from trailers to an air-conditioned studio.

"He told us we were going places where not many people would go and he was going to put us in it. And the film is absolutely better for it.

"He didn't do it because he wanted us to be uncomfortable. He did it because he knew the film would be better. It's a cliché but they don't make movies like this anymore. I'd do it again. Sign me up."
