The 'Used to Love You' hitmaker has revealed how she wraps the door leading into where the presents are kept and her kids - Kingston, 11, Zuma, nine, and Apollo, three, who she shares with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale - have to run through and break the paper to get to their gifts.

Kingston revealed: "We try to look underneath it and see the stuff. But it's always super close to the floor, so we usually don't get to see anything."

Gwen added: "We have to be very patient. And we have to make sure that the phone's working and that we videotape the boys crashing through the wrapping paper and then it reveals everything."

Zuma said: "We break through at the same time, but Kingston gets through first, usually."

And Apollo shared: "You run and then when you get close, you can break it out! And then the paper breaks."

And Gwen sees it as one of the family's "greatest traditions".

Speaking on her You Make It Feel Like Christmas TV special, Gwen said: "That's probably, to me, one of the greatest traditions. I don't know how Santa thought that up. Such a good idea."

Meanwhile, Gwen previously revealed it is her dream is to have a number one Christmas single that is popular every year like Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.

She said: "As a songwriter, that's the ultimate dream. The idea of having a song that repeats every year. I mean, every year Mariah Carey is like, 'Here I am again! I'm back! Even if I don't have a record out this year, I'm back at Christmas!' That was the idea - I was going to get the basketball and try to score a basket."
