The 'Only Way is Essex' star almost lost his kidney after he was stabbed with a broken bottle during a night out in Marbella, Spain last month and, although he's seemingly making a good recovery, doctors have warned him he'll have to seek medical care for at least another four weeks.

Jake's co-star James 'Arg' Argent explained: "Jake's still in hospital and he's got to stay there for a month."

But, although his treatment is still on-going, doctors in Spain are currently in discussions with a medical team in the UK about transferring the star to a hospital in his native.

Fellow 'TOWIE' star Michael Hassini told The Sun newspaper: "They're discussing getting him back to England in the next couple of days but that's only if he's able to fly."

Jake has also been banned by producers from taking part in the summer special of the ITVBe show, which will start filming abroad later this month, in order to focus on his recovery.

An insider said: "We are letting Jake focus on his recovery before discussing a return to the series."

The rest of the cast of the show were expected to shoot the special in Marbella but producers have now decided to change the location following Jake's near-fatal stabbing.

A source said: "Producers are looking for a new destination. It's unlikely the cast will ever return in an official capacity."

Jake was rushed to hospital on May 31 after he was allegedly attacked with the sharp object at Aqwa Mist nightclub.

Despite initial fears that he'd suffer permanent damage as a result of the alleged stabbing, it's thought the doctors' swift intervention has prevented any long-term issues.
