The 37-year-old star - who's appeared in a string of hit movies, including 'The Interview' and 'This Is the End' - worked for the fast-food chain after dropping out of university to pursue his acting dreams and has claimed the company was supportive of him "when no one else was".

In an essay written for The Washington Post newspaper, James recalled: "All I know is that when I needed McDonald's, McDonald's was there for me when no one else was."

At the time, James had no money or work experience, and has subsequently thanked McDonald's for helping him out.

He said: "Someone asked me if I was too good to work at McDonald's. I was definitely not too good to work at McDonald's.

"I went to the nearest Mickey D's and was hired the same day."

James' three-month stint at the fast-food restaurant helped him to improve his use of accents.

He shared: "As bad as the accents were (Brooklynese, Italian, British, Irish, Russian, Southern), people actually found them persuasive.

"I was asked to give Italian lessons to a cute young woman who thought I was from Pisa.

"Of course I couldn't follow up as I did not speak Italian."
