The Hollywood legend recalled the compliment he gave the 'On The Floor' hitmaker when he auditioned for comedy review show 'In Living Color' in the 1990s and she was in the audience.

Speaking about his first meeting with the singer and actress, he recalled: "I remember seeing her, and I say to her, 'Hey, I have a girlfriend, I’m not hitting on you, but you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen.' But we became friends because we were the rookies on the show."

And Jamie remembers how well his audition went.

He added to Yahoo Entertainment: "I go up on stage and I get a standing ovation. And then the next day I get a call that says, 'You gonna be on a show called In Living Color.' That was what I needed."

Meanwhile, Jamie had previously opened up about fame and wanting to use it as an opportunity to help others.

Asked about a potential political career a number of years back, he said: "That's always in the back of my mind. I'm a real person, and I'm angry. I'm trying to use this celebrity thing to get people some help. AIDS, poverty, racism, - I want to be one of the hands that helps stop all that. I'll put it on my shoulders. I'll charge it to my account. I don't look around to see what others are doing. No, I see me. And I feel in my own heart that I'm not doing enough. I want to do more."
