Kate Hudson is taking dance lessons from Derek Hough.
The 34-year-old actress is being taught how to ballroom dance by the 'Dancing with the Stars' professional.
Although Derek, 28, wants his friend Kate to compete on the TV series he doesn't think she'd be interested in taking part.
Derek told E! News: "I've been working with Kate Hudson a little bit lately for fun - just dancing for fun, giving her some lessons.
"She's become a good friend and she's great. I would love for her to do the show, but she would never. She's fantastic. But I want her to maybe do a guest spot."
Kate - who is engaged to Muse rocker Matt Bellamy - is equally enthusiastic and has been enjoying learning how to waltz around the ballroom.
In a recent interview with Shape magazine, she said: "My heart is really in contemporary jazz, but lately I've been ballroom dancing with Derek Hough. It's been a real blast."
Derek - who once dated Cheryl Cole - will return to the screen on the dance contest's 17th season which will air one night a week with dances and eliminations happening on the same night and is excited about the new format.
He added: "I wanted to be part of this next season in particular because of the new format. That's going to really change the dynamic of the show and I really want to be part of that and support that."
