Kate Moss spent £2,000 on cigarette substitutes.

The supermodel was so desperate for her e-cigarettes - a substitute for tobacco smoking which releases a nicotine vapour through an inhaler - she flew her chauffeur 850 miles out to Ibiza to deliver emergency packets of the special cigarettes.

The 39-year-old blonde was worried she would resort to her chain-smoking habit after caving real cigarettes while she soaked up the sun with husband Jamie Hince, 44, and her 11-year-old daughter, Lila Grace, on the Spanish island.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Kate has been a smoker for many years but recently she has got worried about wrinkles and other signs of ageing. She has made a great effort to cut down and she has been doing well.

"But sometimes, especially on holiday, she craves them more and more. When she realised she had forgotten her e-cigarettes, she tried to buy some but couldn't find a recognisable brand.

"So she called home and had them couriered, paying more than £300 for a last-minute flight, more than £1,000 for a hotel room for the driver and hundreds on other related expenses."

Kate was first introduced to e-cigarettes by media mogul Simon Cowell and has been using them ever since vowing to cut back on her tobacco consumption.

However, the supermodel needn't worry about the huge costs incurred as her earnings for 2012 were reported to total over £12 million.

The insider added: "She knows the trip was a tad excessive but felt it better than having to start her good work all over again."
