The 35-year-old singer has returned to work on ‘American Idol’ just six weeks after giving birth to her first child, Daisy Dove, and has heaped praise on how well her fiancé Orlando has stepped up to the plate to take care of the tot whilst she’s away.

She said: "It's hard a little bit these first couple of days away and not being able to be there. But Daddy's doing a great job. Daddy has stepped in. I've seen him with the bottle, I've seen all the pictures. It's all good.”

The ‘Never Worn White’ singer also admitted going back to work feels “amazing”, and said her life feels “whole” now that she’s a mother.

She added to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I feel so grateful for this opportunity and for this job, and to be able to continue to inspire other people to go after their dreams. I mean, my life just feels very full and whole.”

Katy’s comments come after Orlando - who also has nine-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr - referred to himself as “the baby whisperer” because of how easily he can soothe Daisy.

He said: “When Katy was pregnant, I chanted to the baby with a Buddhist mantra which I have used since I was 16.

“So now I walk into the room and she hears my voice and she soothes a bit.

"And when I'm walking around with her I will chant in her ear and she likes it, she responds to it very nicely.

“Katy is a bit like 'what?!' It's like I'm the baby whisperer. I am definitely winning the daddy points.”

The ‘Carnival Row’ star, 43, also said it’s been a “blessing” that Daisy has proven to be such an easy baby so far.

He explained: “She's sleeping through the night. It's always a journey with little bubbas coming into the world. They have to get back to their baby weight in that process.

“She's now back to her baby weight and she's now sleeping from nine until six which is unbelievable. It's a blessing."
