The 'Heartbeat Song' hitmaker - who has River Rose, two, and seven-month-old Remington Alexander with her husband Brandon Blackstock - admits she was "in a very dark place for a long time" and has considered ditching her fame but knows it is important to show her daughters it is good to be a working mother.

She said: "I was in a very dark place for a long time. It's just so hard to have normalcy. I love to sing, and I love to talk to people at meet and greets.

"It's just all the c**p that comes along with this job ... I don't love traveling, because I'm never home. It's hard when you have a family."

Asked if she has considered giving it up, she added: "Oh, all the time. I mean, I'm always going to be a singer, but the level I'm at ... I have constant guilt. I don't have to work; I think it's because I have that option that I feel the guilt. But it's important for my girls, especially, to see me as a woman accomplishing all these things while nailing it as a mom. I always come back to that."

And the 34-year-old singer also opened up about how motherhood has made her "next-level confident".

She shared to Good Housekeeping magazine: "I sound like such a tool, but becoming a mother has made me next-level confident. I've never felt more empowered. I feel like my 20s were spent walking on eggshells making sure everyone felt loved and not really expressing my opinion.

"As a mom, you just don't have time, so you get straight to the point. I go to bed every night and the list of what I've accomplished is astounding."
