The 52-year-old professional surfer is dad to a grown-up daughter named Taylor, 28, from a previous relationship and now he's going to welcome a new baby almost 30 years later with Kalani, 36, who he has been dating for 16 years.

The couple shared the happy news in a post on Instagram with a video revealing Kalani's baby bump as the couple waded into the sea together.

Kalani previously opened about her dream of starting a family with Kelly, confessing she would eventually like to have "two or three" kids.

In a 2019 interview with Graham Bensinger, she explained: "I'm from a family of four. He's from a family of three. Now when I see people traveling with four kids, I can't imagine my family or anyone doing that. It's crazy. I don't know, maybe two or three."

When asked if having more children would prompt Kelly to retire from surfing after 31 years riding the waves, she added: "I don't know because it would be interesting to see him try to balance both of those things and whatever, having to put his competitive nature aside for a second and put a baby first."

Kelly also opened up about parenthood in an interview with Graham, admitting he felt guilty because he was so busy with his career when his daughter Taylor was growing up.

He said: "The whole time my daughter has been raised by her mother almost 100 per cent in physical time and I’ve been traveling.

"The hardest part, I think for me, is my daughter feeling like she doesn’t have a dad there all the time. And that’s hard for her. I know it was especially hard for her when she was younger."
