The former One Direction singer is rumoured to be expecting his first child with girlfriend Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and is planning to do his best to juggle his new responsibilities with carving out a successful solo career.

A source said: "Liam has promised his label he'll tour after the album but obviously that's when Cheryl might be having their baby if the reports are to be believed.

"He's promising he'll be there for her - he's even said he'll set up a travelling nursery, whatever the timings.

"But everyone who knows Cheryl knows she'd rather be settled at home, especially at such an important time."

However, Cheryl's friends and family, including her beloved mother Joan, are trying to convince her to compromise.

The insider added to heat magazine: "They are advising her she needs to keep working on things with Liam. They are telling her to try and give and take a little."

Meanwhile, after the hashtag 'congratulationsliam' began trending, fans were sent into a frenzy thinking he'd finally confirmed his baby news.

However, the well-wishes were simply because he has signed a new record deal with Republic Records in the US.

The 'History' hitmaker's manager, Simon Oliveira - the co-founder of Doyen Global - said of the signing: "With Republic's track record of launching powerhouse talent in the US including superstars like Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, The Weeknd, Ariana Grade, Lorde and countless others, I am more than confident we have assembled the best team alongside Capitol's UK label to launch and shepherd Liam's solo career."

And Republic Records have also teased new music will be "coming soon" from the hunky pop star.

A statement made by the label - responsible for helping to launch the careers of Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and James Bay - said: "A driving force of One Direction with numerous key songwriting credits, he sold over 20 million albums worldwide as part of the group in addition to receiving six BRIT Awards, seven American Music Awards, 11 MTV Europe Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, and 27 Teen Choice Awards.

He kicks off his solo career with new music coming soon via an alliance with Capitol UK label, led by Nick Raphael."
