The 47-year-old actress' late mother Joan Rivers was posthumously awarded the Grammy award for Best Spoken Word Album for the audio recording of her 2014 memoir, 'Diary of a Mad Diva', at last night's (08.02.15) ceremony, and while her daughter admitted it was "tough" to accept the prize on her behalf, she is glad her mum is getting "so much attention".

When asked what the award meant to her, Melissa said: "It's a difficult moment. It's a little bittersweet. She was nominated once for her comedy album, never was ever nominated for her other books and it's like, 'Now she goes and wins'.

"But it's wonderful how loved she was and how she's getting so much attention now and people are really understanding what she was about."

The 'Fashion Police' producer - who lost Joan in September last year aged 81 following surgery complications - also joked she didn't want the award to be taken away to be engraved and was "clutching" desperately onto it.

She told E! News: "They give you the Grammy and then they take it away from you.

"I was like holding it, like clutching it. I was like, 'You're not taking this away,' but they engrave it and send it to you."
