The former Disney stars are preparing to kick off their 'Future Now' tour and Nick, who is close to both Demi and Wilmer, thinks it will help her to move on.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "I've built an amazing friendship with Wilmer over the years and I have so much love for him. Demi is one of my closest friends in the world so I'm here for her, and for both of them really.

"It's probably the best timing for everybody."

Nick, 23, was previously forced to deny reports that Wilmer, 36, split up with 23-year-old Demi - who previously dated Nick's brother Joe Jonas - over his jealousy of her friendship with Nick.

He said: "Not true at all. Demi is one of my closest friends, we're like family, and I also love Wil to death. We've become very close over the last couple of years, so not true.'

Asked if it was 'fair to say' he was sad over the split, he said: "Fair to say I hope they find happiness and are happy, and that's all that matters."

Wilmer and Demi, who dated for six years, announced their split in a joint Instagram post which read: "After almost 6 loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship. This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends (sic)."
