Pink is Billboard's Woman of the Year, and claims she was "shocked" to learn she had been given the honour following the success of her sixth album, 'The Truth About Love'.

The 'True Love' hitmaker will be honoured during a ceremony in December in New York City following the success of her sixth studio album, 'The Truth About Love', which has sold 1.7 million copies since it was released last September, and topped the Billboard 200 chart.

The star - real name Alecia Moore - said: "I was absolutely shocked and surprised to hear that Billboard named me Woman of the Year.

"It's been an incredible year and I feel so grateful to radio for sticking by me, and to the fans and friends and all of the incredible talent that I was fortunate enough to work with for this album."

The Truth About Love' was also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy awards

The decision was made after 2013 mid-year numbers revealed Pink to have the top selling album and song for a solo female in the US. She is also in the middle of a huge 140-date world tour. 'The Truth About Love' was also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy awards.

Pink's 'Just Give Me a Reason' also topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier this year.

Previous winners of Billboard's Woman of the Year include Ciara, Beyoncé, Fergie, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.
