The 25-year-old singer admits she experiences feelings of anxiety when she starts to think about the future, but finds it helpful to discuss her fears with a counsellor on a regular basis.

She said: "I'm not scared to admit I've had therapy. I have someone I speak to once a week. People suffer from it in different ways, but for me it's more about thinking about the long-term goal. I'm a very 'in the moment' person, so if I have to do something there and then, I'll be fine. But if I think about it, that's when anxious thoughts start going on."

The 'Body On Me' singer is thankful to have a supportive team of people around her that will ease her fears.

She said: "I get so nervous because I care so much.

"Sometimes I get nervous about recording a song in the studio. I'm like, 'I'm not ready to record this yet.' Or, 'I don't think I can do this.' So I'm relieved to have people around me who encourage me to do well."

While Rita recently spent months locked in a legal battle with Jay Z's Roc Nation label, she doesn't seem to bear a grudge after signing to Atlantic Records, as she still regards the '99 Problems' rapper as one of her "idols", while she thinks of his wife Beyonce as "the queen of life".

Discussing her inspirations, she told the new issue of Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine: "There are people I respect strictly for their hustling business purposes. Victoria Beckham for one. She's an incredible inspiration and I love her stuff. And she came from the Spice Girls - major!

"Jay is one of my idols and Beyoncé is obviously the queen of life. I'll never not appreciate the experience I have had with them and the things I've seen. They've been great mentors. I look up to them a lot."

The 'I Will Never Let You Down' singer admitted she has been a victim of sexism within her career.

She said: "Things would be said differently and conversations would be taken outside (the room) only because I am a woman."
