The 'House of Cards' actress has daughter Dylan, 26, and son Hopper, 23, with ex-husband Sean Penn and she's amazed they have both decided to go into modelling and acting as they were so adamant they wouldn't follow in the footsteps of their famous parents when they were younger.

She said: "You know, when they were kids, they'd been on set since they were born. I was breastfeeding both my kids in my trailer in between scenes during 'Forrest Gump'.

"And they would say constantly as they grew up: 'Oh God, I would never be an actor, I hate it, I've been on sets my whole life.'"

Robin can next be seen as Amazon warrior General Antiope in the new 'Wonder Woman' film and she found the gruelling training regime of horse riding, martial arts, weightlifting, and carb-and-protein-heavy meals to prepare for the role pretty tough.

She admitted to Observer magazine: "I couldn't even show up because I was so injured, because my body was not used to the intensity. And I'm a little person."

However, she found preparing alongside her female co-stars "incredibly stimulating".

She explained: "You wanted to show up, otherwise you're bailing out, and all the other ladies were there? Not cool."

And the actress was happy to turn 50 while shooting the movie.

She said: "That was so rewarding. Fifty and getting in the best shape of my life? And doing it with all these gals, who were all cheerleading for each other, and want us each to do the best we can. It was so much fun."

Robin believes the key themes of the movie will strike a chord with women everywhere.

She said: "[It depicts] love and protection and equality and justice. And that's woman. That's mother. That's an instinct intrinsic in us, right?"
