Salma Hayek had a pet tiger called Rambo when she was a child.

The 46-year-old actress was besotted with the big cat - named after Sylvester Stallone's Vietnam war veteran film character - as a kid and would play with him in her house.

Salma also had two other pet tigers growing up and she loved all of them and was heartbroken when they died.

She told the New York Post newspaper: "One (tiger), caught in the air conditioner, died. One sweet cub developed a temper and had to go. My third, Rambo, the tiger of my life, was a little baby doll. Three years we played inside our house. I can't talk of how he died. It's too upsetting."

Salma - who has a five-year-old daughter Valentina with her husband Francois-Henri Pinault - has a history owning unusual pets

The 'Grown Ups' star was once given two monkeys by her friend Antonio Banderas - who she has known since they worked on 1995 movie 'Desperado' together.

She previously revealed: "Before I had my child, animals were my life. I slept with four dogs in my bed. They (the monkeys) lived in an open cage and one of them always ran out and was eaten by a cat in the end. The other one died of lovelornness."
