Scott Eastwood's father Clint is "old school" and never believed in giving his kids whatever they wanted.

The 'Longest Ride' actor - whose mother is the legendary filmmaker's former partner Jacelyn Reeves - has bought almost every car he owns and even the first vehicle he got from his parents wasn't a luxury motor.

He said: "My dad was pretty old school. I've had a job since I can remember and it's not like he was like, 'Hey, what kind of car do you want?'

"My first car was a '91 Ford Crown Victoria that was $1,000. And I had to buy every car after that. I had to do it all."

Scott told the new issue of People magazine: "My dad was always super-active and got me in the gym at a young age.

"He wanted me to be health-conscious. Healthy body, healthy mind; that's what he preached to me."

While Scott spent his childhood being "dragged around to movie sets" and went on to land roles in his father's movies 'Gran Torino' and 'Flags of Our Fathers', he wasn't always sure he wanted to be an actor.

He admitted: "People think I just started, and I laugh. I said I would give myself 10 years, and if it didn't work out, I would be a firefighter or something. And things just sort of took off."
