The 47-year-old presenter beat off competition from 'Full Frontal with Samantha Bee', 'The Kelly Clarkson Show', 'Red Table Talk', The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' and 'Desus & Mero' to take the Best Talk Show accolade for 'Late Night' at Sunday's (07.03.21) ceremony, and though he had his parents Lawrence and Hillary with him when he virtually accepted the honour, his sons were firmly tucked up in bed.

And Seth insisted his wife Alexi wouldn't have wanted Ashe, four, and two-year-old Axel to be disturbed unless he'd won an Academy Award, which honours excellence in film.

Speaking to 'Entertainment Tonight' in the virtual press room after the show, Hillary said: "Oh no, no [the boys weren't watching]. The kids are night-night. It's way too late for them."

Seth then joked: "By the way, if we wake them up, don't be offended, but we're gonna tell them I won an Oscar. They just don't know. They're too young to know all of the shows.

"Just anything less than an Oscar would not be worth waking the kids up for, from my wife's perspective."

Seth's parents got their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine last week, and insisted that was more exciting than seeing their son scoop the honour.

Hillary said: "Yeah, it is crazy, crazy, crazy."

Lawrence jokingly added: "It's the second best thing that's happened this month."

Seth's parents could be heard giggling off camera as their son accepted his award, before appearing briefly on screen, and after they did the same during his backstage interviews afterwards, the talk show host joked the pair were looking for a series of their own.

He quipped: "My parents, as usual, are driving an incredibly hard bargain on the contract."
