Seth Rogen believes people are fascinated by his weed smoking because he's one of only a few celebrities to admit to using the drug.

The 'Superbad' star is a proud self-confessed stoner but believes there are other famous actors who use cannabis but are too scared to admit they enjoy a herbal smoke.

Seth, 31, understands why the public are "fascinated" with his marijuana habit.

He told MTV News: "I do understand why people are fascinated. There are very few people who are famous who openly talk about doing something that is technically illegal - although should not be by any means. And I get why that's fascinating to people. Every once in a while, I'm like, 'Yeah, OK, we get it. I smoke weed.' "

Seth - who can be seen with fellow partners-in-crime James Franco, Jonah Hill and Danny McBride in spoof apocalyptic film 'This Is the End', in which they play fictionalised versions of themselves - also recalled one night when he got busted on the beach in Malibu, California, for smoking dope.

Seth claims he was with two other famous actors who don't want him to ever name them.

He said: "Years and years ago, when I first moved to LA, I was with a few other actors who don't want me saying I was with them. One is in 'This Is the End' and the other is actually in another gigantic summer movie this year.

"We got caught in Malibu and we got detained and I had to go to court and I ultimately got off with a fine. So don't smoke weed in Malibu on the beach at one in the morning."

Seth has been named Stoner of the Year twice by High Times magazine and has previously joked it's the prize he's always wanted to win.
