Shakira "could not be happier" after her ex-boyfriend's lawsuit against her was dismissed.

The 36-year-old singer was slapped with $100 million lawsuit by her former lover Antonio de la Rua, but Los Angeles Superior Court judge Abraham Kha closed the case on Thursday (01.08.13), after determining that the lawsuit should not be heard in California.

Antonio, who is the son of former Argentine president Fernando de la Rua, was suing Shakira on the basis that they made an oral agreement in 2004 promising him a stake in her fortune because he had acted as one of Shakira's business partners, as well as an adviser and strategist in her career, and helped build the "Shakira brand".

However, in court documents filed by the star, she claims the couple signed a 'relationship contract' in 2006 in which both parties agreed to "renounce" any rights to each other's future earnings.

Antonio also takes credit for talking the songstress into recording her global hit 'Hips Don't Lie' - which she initially "hated" - and says he helped put together her $300 million touring deal with Live Nation.

He has also pursued his claims in courts in Switzerland and New York, but those actions have been dismissed.

Shakira - who has seven-month-old son Milan with Gerard Pique - said in a statement: "I am very grateful that the courts are not allowing these groundless lawsuits to proceed. "

"I have moved on in my life and could not be happier now. I hope this harassment will now come to an end."
