Simon is having a child with Lauren Silverman
Simon Cowell wants his unborn to have to work for his success.
The media mogul has insisted he "never inherited" his own wealth and hopes his child with Lauren Silverman will follow a similar path.
He told the Daily Mail Weekend magazine: "I never inherited anything in my life, and everything I have I had to earn. But I think that's what made me enjoy my life more.
"I want my son to feel like he's got to prove his own way and I'd like to do what my dad did for me."
Simon's late father Eric - whom he may name his son after - tried to teach him to appreciate everybody, no matter what job or position they hold in comparison.
He said: "He once said to me, 'You've got to realise that everyone around you has a sign on their forehead that says Make Me Feel Important'. I've always remembered that.
"You've got to understand that the guy who holds the door open is as important as the producer or the director, because it's a job. I think that was the best piece of advice I was ever given."
